Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes in BBC's Sherlock. I used a screencap from 2x01 A Scandal in Belgravia as a reference.

Graphite pencils in Moleskine sketchbook.

Amazing. That's one of my favorite moments from BBC's Sherlock. It's something that seems like what he would do.

Sheet. It may sound strange but I've always wanted to draw something like this because I like drawing clothes and fabric and stuff. :B

ANYWAY, you drew the sheet great here. It's the main attraction, and it looks so real! His hand is nice as well. :aww:

DULY NOTED.

I badly need to draw in my Moly again, but... Mojo's gone, and most of the time I'm either stressing about stuff or really tired. :B

So simple and elegant. How do you get the black to be THAT black while the white stays crisp and clean?

Thank you! :D To be honest, I have no idea. Everyone always asks me how I keep the graphite from smudging et cetera, but I've never had any problems with that.

You're welcome! You must be very talented, and very lucky to have so few difficulties with your drawing. Keep up the fantastic work!

*yawn* One of Sherlock's "once in a blue moon" mental health days, and he gets called to Buckingham Palace. Life is shit like that sometimes.

A Study in Cloth? You've done beautifully with the folds and the difference between the sheet and the background make the foreground just POP.

I love the draping of the sheet, the folds look really natural and realistic! And you captured perfectly the pose of his arm and hand, it's easy to loose the balance of anatomy when there's lots of fabric involved, at least for me ;P
I love it!

I really admire how you captured the folds in the fabric. I'm currently taking a beginning drawing class and we are working with value, which I am not very good at, do you have any pointers that might be helpful? Great drawing!

Thank you! :D Oh god, I'm terrible at giving advice. D: I think using tinted paper helps a lot. It's much harder to make things pop when you're working with white paper, but everything from off-white to darker greys and browns makes creating different values much easier, imho.
